AT&T to buy Nextel Mexico’s wireless assets for $1.9 billion

Bloomberg: AT&T Inc., the second-largest U.S. mobile-phone carrier, agreed to buy NII Holdings Inc.’s Mexican wireless assets for $1.875 billion in its third deal to expand south of the U.S. border. The acquisition includes companies that operate under the name Nextel Mexico, spectrum licenses, network assets, retail stores and about 3 million customers.

 

Expedia buys Travelocity for $280 million in cash

The New York Times: Expedia Inc. agreed on Friday to buy fellow travel booking site Travelocity for $280 million in cash, nearly two years after the two forged a marketing and technology partnership. Expedia will acquire Travelocity from the company’s current parent, Sabre Corp.

 

Airlines cancel 4,360 flights from impending East Coast blizzard

USA Today: Airlines reacted to a major snowstorm that’s expected to wallop parts of the Northeast by canceling more than 3,550 flights Monday, hours ahead of the snow. About 800 more flights have been grounded since this morning, bringing the cancellation total for Monday and Tuesday to a whopping 4,360 flights.
