The $25 million facility is being proposed by the MPO with the city of Des Moines, the Greater Des Moines Partnership and the Iowa Department of Transportation as part of a public-private partnership with Des Moines Industrial, the developer, operator and owner of the facility. “We are committed to doing this project right and are taking all necessary steps to minimize or avoid any detrimental impacts to the environment,” Todd Ashby, CEO and executive director of the Des Moines MPO, said in a statement. “So far the environmental analysis has not turned up any significant environmental impacts. Before moving forward, we want to check in with the public to ensure we are not missing anything.” The environmental assessment can be found here. Comments will be received through July 27 on the regulations.gov public comment link. To read a Business Record Insider article about Des Moines Industrial, click here.
