Mulcahy promoted to assistant executive director at DSM
Brian Mulcahy, the assistant director of finance and administration at the Des Moines International Airport, has been named the new assistant executive director for the airport. He fills a position that has been left vacant since Kevin Foley became the airport’s executive director in 2014. Airport officials said the decision was made to fill the assistant executive director’s position as the airport continues work on an improvement plan that includes the construction of a new terminal building. The move also allows the airport to develop a succession plan. Mulcahy was chosen after a national search. He has more than 10 years of airport executive leadership experience and extensive financial and administrative expertise in airport management, team building, strategic planning and operations. In his role as assistant director of finance and administration, Mulcahy has managed a combined operating and capital budget of about $50 million. He was responsible for all financial and administrative functions at the airport, including human resources. He also negotiated and administered airline use agreements, setting rates and charges, and was responsible for driving key revenue streams at the airport. Mulcahy has already started in his new role, and a search is underway to fill his previous position.
