Naig announces 20 Choose Iowa dairy innovation grants

124 wordsAg and Environment, All Latest News, Innovation and EntrepreneurshipIowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig announced Thursday that 20 Iowa dairies across 12 Iowa counties have been awarded Choose Iowa Dairy Innovation grants. The cost-share grants are intended to help small dairies with less than 50 employees invest in new technology, such as pasteurization equipment, processing space, packaging and bottling products and robots. The program matches up to $100,000 per project. Other cost-share grant programs available through the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship are the Choose Iowa Value-Added Grant and the Butchery Innovation and Revitalization Program. Eligible grant requests totaling over $2.6 million were received from 50 dairies. These 20 grants will leverage an overall investment of more than $2.2 million.
