The National Bar Association, the nation’s largest global network of predominantly Black American attorneys and judges founded 100 years ago in Des Moines, will return to Des Moines for its 45th annual Midyear Conference and Gertrude E. Rush Awards Gala March 20-23. Events at the conference include continuing legal education workshops, a board of governors meeting, an awards luncheon and a gala featuring the National Bar Association president. “Des Moines is deeply intertwined with our history and the legacy of our pioneering founders,” association President Wiley S. Adams said in a prepared statement. “This year’s gathering is exceptionally meaningful as we will not only engage in a powerful and dynamic program, but we will also correct a historic wrong by placing an appropriate marker on the unmarked grave of our only woman founder, Gertrude Rush.” The association will also hold its 100th annual Convention and Exhibits event July 26-Aug. 1 in Chicago. For more information or to register for the conference, visit the National Bar Association website.
