Guy Gast, president of the Waldinger Corp. Iowa Division, has received the Contractor of the Year Award from the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association. In a news release, Gast’s commitment to volunteering, workforce development and labor relations advocacy work were cited as the reasons for his receiving the award. Gast served as president of SMACNA’s board of directors from 2015 to 2016, and was a board member from 2007 to 2011. He is currently chair of the New Horizons Foundation, SMACNA’s member foundation and research entity. Locally, Gast is a former chair of the Sheet Metal Contractors of Iowa-Central Iowa as well former as president and board member of the Sheet Metal Contractors of Iowa.
