Neumann Monson Architects announces staff promotions

Three people have been promoted to principals at Neumann Monson Architects, which has offices in Iowa City and Des Moines. They include:

Lyndley Kent
Lyndley Kent

• Lyndley Kent, now a principal in the firm’s Des Moines office. Kent joined the firm 11 years ago. Her work has gained regional and national recognition, including receiving the 2021 American Institute of Architects (AIA) Iowa Young Architect of the Year award. She also received a 2021 AIA Committee on the Environment Top 10 Award for the adaptive reuse of a historic factory building. Outside Neumann Monson, Kent serves as the 2024 AIA Iowa board treasurer and is in her second year on the AIA National Committee on the Environment Leadership group.

Nick Lindsley

 Nick Lindsley, now a principal at the firm’s Iowa City office. In 2020, Lindsley was named a National Young Architect by the AIA. His project work includes clients like the city of Iowa City, University of Iowa and MidwestOne Bank. Lindsley, who has been in the profession 14 years, leads the firm’s employee onboarding process that helps identify and foster new talent for the Neumann Monson team.

Sally Obernolte
Sally Obernolte

 Sally Obernolte, now a principal at the firm’s Iowa City office. Obernolte has been in architecture and design for 22 years, 15 of which at Neumann Monson. Obernolte’s clients include HNI Corp. and Pella Community School District. Obernolte led the Stanley Center for Peace and Security in its pursuit of full Living Building Certification, the most rigorous standard for sustainability.

Other employees who were promoted included Brian Warthen, of the Des Moines office, and Dan Broffitt, of the Iowa City, both of whom were promoted to associate principals. Jillian Riggan, of the Iowa City office, was promoted to associate.
