A new WesleyLife Meals on Wheels campus that will celebrate its grand opening on Dec. 1 is expected to triple the number of meals that Meals on Wheels delivers daily to older adults and military veterans in Central Iowa, according to a press release. Gov. Kim Reynolds and Des Moines Mayor-elect Connie Boesen will be at the ribbon-cutting from 3 to 5 p.m. at the new location at 3206 University Ave. in Des Moines. The campus will feature a new commercial kitchen, a space for multigenerational programming and experiences, and the country’s only Meals on Wheels-affiliated hydroponic farming operation. WesleyLife farmer Aaron Thormodsen will be available to offer tours and answer questions.
