New park with natural playscape opens July 14 in Urbandale
A grand opening and ribbon-cutting for Urbandale’s new Barrett Boesen Park is planned for 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the 7-acre park, at 5301 156th St. The park features a natural playscape that consists of elements and textures from the earth, such as logs, stumps, boulders, sand, plants and water. Natural playscapes provide enhanced opportunities for exploration, discovery, learning and play, enabling children to move freely and creatively around the environment as well as provide connections with nature, according to a news release.
