New scholarship program launched for immigrant students
TheDream.US, the nation’s largest scholarship program for DREAMers — immigrant youths who came to the country without documentation — today announced a new scholarship program for DREAMers in Iowa and 15 other states. TheDream.US Opportunity Scholarship will provide a pathway to higher education for 500 immigrant students with Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals or Temporary Protective Status who are required to pay out-of-state tuition or are prohibited from enrolling in the state’s colleges and universities altogether, the organization said in a release. The privately funded program will pay up to $80,000 per student to help fund the costs of tuition, fees, on-campus housing and meals for these DREAMers to earn a bachelor’s degree at Eastern Connecticut State University or Delaware State University.
