The Iowa Department of Revenue has updated income tax withholding tables for 2020 to continue to align state withholding with recent changes in Iowa’s tax laws. For individuals, this means that employers will be reducing the amount of Iowa tax withheld from employees’ paychecks, beginning Jan. 1, increasing take-home wages for individuals. The changes align tax amounts with individual income tax cuts included in the tax reform legislation signed into law in the spring of 2018. Employers can find the new Iowa 2020 withholding formulas and tables here. The department has also updated the online withholding calculator to help individuals calculate their 2020 withholding amounts. Employers will update withholding amounts starting Jan. 1, but employees can also make changes to their Iowa W-4 (withholding) form by contacting their employer.
