Nonprofit organizations can market themselves for free or at low cost to the more than 200,000 people who are expected to attend the 2011 Des Moines Arts Festival June 24-26, through the Prairie Meadows Community Outreach Program.

Organizations have three options for participation in the program, which is sponsored by Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino:

• Provide an on-site interactive arts-related activity and volunteer staff to manage it during the length of the festival. (No fee required)

• Provide approximately 16 volunteers for an entire day during the festival. The 16 volunteers will be assigned to assist the festival in general volunteer duties. (No fee required)

• Apply for booth space rental and festival-provided tent. ($450 fee required)

In 2010, the International Festivals & Events Association presented the Prairie Meadows program with the Gold Grand Pinnacle Award for the Best Community Outreach Program.

Applications may be obtained online at www.desmoinesartsfestival.org/community-outreach-program and must be completed by 5 p.m. on March 23.
