167 wordsBusiness Record Insider, The Insider NotebookFor developer Brent Dahlstrom, partnering with Drake University on a project to redevelop a two-block area east of campus is a homecoming of sorts.
Dahlstrom, a partner in Cedar Falls-based Merge Urban Development, is also a runner who participated in the Drake Relays during high school. In 2003, the 4×400-meter relay team he was on from Cedar Falls High School placed first.
At the University of Northern Iowa, where Dahlstrom majored in finance and real estate, the sprinter also was on the track team and participated in the relays. Dahlstrom said he also attended the relays to watch his brother participate.
“I was here 12 straight years,” he said. “I always liked the area around Drake – the atmosphere.”
On June 24, Dahlstrom with Drake President Marty Martin announced the details of a $63 million project proposed for an area bounded by 24th and 25th streets and Forest and University avenues. The development will include the construction of apartment buildings, townhouses, commercial space and a parking garage.
