The petitioners included a variety of reasons – from disabilities to health concerns and feeling more productive with flexible working arrangements. Harvard business professor Tsedal Neeley said that many companies are receiving pushback for requiring a certain number of days and that it is often more effective when companies ask their employees to come in for certain activities that benefit from in-person collaboration. It will be interesting to see how the tech giant and other companies process requests to work at home in a fair and equitable way as some requests may fall in line with accessibility accommodations while others are more a personal preference.
