We see it here in central Iowa: The growth of Amazon’s presence on the marketplace. In another community, on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, they’re seeing the effects, too. In the old market town of Darlington, England, some retailers say Amazon is the reason many of their local shops have closed. But then Amazon opened a warehouse there, employing 1,300 people, making it one of the city’s biggest employers. The jobs have provided an economic  boost for the city of 100,000 people. While some still blame Amazon for the closure of some stores, they are also seeing the upside of it. This Wall Street Journal article looks at how the city learned to stop worrying and instead learned to love Amazon.
