Was it because I had watched Olympic swimmer Katie Ledecky dominate in the trials the night before – or was it because a thunderstorm was rolling in and I had to get laps in before lighting made the lifeguards clear the pool? It’s tough to say. But what I do know is it’s sure fun to watch Ledecky swim. As I was perusing some news stories about her competing in the Olympic trials, I stumbled upon an article from People about her graduating from Stanford. She graduated last fall, and the article noted that, ironically, during the spring semester of 2020 she took a class about infectious diseases, which she enrolled in long before the coronavirus pandemic had begun. They ended up having plenty of relevant material from current events to discuss.
