While that may sound sketchy, it’s actually a clean term that simply means I’m now in my 60s. It started creeping up on me slowly over the past couple of years, with some emerging aches and pains, getting unsolicited senior coffee discounts from McDonald’s employees, and finding I’m now paying attention to articles about Medicare and Social Security. And ? I am not making this up ? while I was writing this I got a robocall from “Rachel at Medicare Benefits.” On that latter note, here’s a good read about what folks just a little older than me might expect next year for Social Security cost of living adjustments. As the article notes: “The buying power of Social Security benefits of those who retired before the year 2000 has eroded by 40%, according to Social Security policy analyst Mary Johnson, with the Senior Citizens League. The organization’s recent 2022 Social Security Loss of Buying Power Study report says that’s the largest drop in buying power since the study began in 2010.” You can read the full Benefits Pro article here.
