A recent one-day conference for human resources professionals that focused on mental health topics really highlighted the desire by people to share their personal stories, says Kevin Pokorny, who was a presenter at the Iowa Employment Conference. Pokorny, a human resources consultant and owner of Pokorny Consulting, remarked that during the lunch, two people he sat with were very open about their own mental health challenges. “We were strangers, and yet people were willing to be vulnerable,” he said. “That tells me people are hungry for spaces to share their stories and to receive compassionate support. It was a very moving lunch.”
