On With Life and the Clive Police Department will distribute free bicycle helmets on Thursday, July 16, to promote the importance of helmet use. The brain injury rehabilitation center is using the event to raise awareness of the absence of a bike helmet law in Iowa, which is one of three states that have no law requiring minors to wear a helmet while riding a bike, scooter, motorcycle or other type of motorized vehicle. In Clive, a variety of helmet sizes will be available on a first-come, first-served basis from 2-4 p.m. at Greenbelt Park. Other giveaway events will be held this month, including one on July 30 in Ankeny, with activities to encourage helmet use and bike safety. For more information, click here.
