ONE GOOD READ: Smaller candy sizes may leave you howling this Halloween

Here’s a big BOO this Halloween. Not to scare you, but if you haven’t noticed, the Halloween candy you’re handing out (or receiving) this year is getting smaller. In this story from the Washington Post, we learn that shrinkflation has struck candy makers, and if you’re like me, there’s nothing fun about that. According to the Post, a bag of dark chocolate Hersey’s Kisses is a couple of punches less. A two-pack of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups is 0.10 ounce lighter, and Cadbury milk chocolate bars are about 10% smaller. But it’s not just this year; making smaller portion sizes is part of a longer-term trend by candy makers to reduce calorie counts and to offer more portion options.
