An open house for a new Grimes apartment complex is planned for 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Ascend at Heritage, 1704 N.E. Gateway Court., Grimes. The first phase of the complex, which includes 110 one-, two- and three-bedroom units, is complete. Move-ins began in June, and so far 40 units are leased. The complex includes a community room (pictured here), a dog park and a swimming pool. Construction of the second phase, which will include 194 units, began earlier this month and is expected to be completed in 2020. The project, valued at $40 million, is being built by D.R. Horton Inc. Hubbell Apartment Living is the complex’s manager.
