The Greater Des Moines Partnership has released a Small Business Jobs Report. The report, which is based on U.S. Census Bureau Data, shows that 8,909 jobs were created by new companies in their first year of business in 2017. That’s up slightly from 8,513 in 2016, but just below the five-year high of 9,030 in 2015. The total number of companies grew each year between 2013 and 2016 to a total of 18,699 in 2016, while the number of self-employed or sole proprietorship companies increased each year in the same time frame to 51,772 in 2016.
