The Greater Des Moines Partnership will host its second “Welcome to Des Moines Reception” tomorrow from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Dos Rios Cantina and Tequila Lounge at 316 Court Ave. The events, which are intended to educate new arrivals about the amenities and resources available in the metro area, are part of the Partnership’s workforce attraction and retention efforts. “Once we get them here,” said Mary Bontrager, the Partnership’s executive vice president of workforce development, “the question is: ‘What are we doing to help retain people that aren’t from here, that aren’t accustomed to the culture of Des Moines?’” Tomorrow’s event will take place during the Downtown Farmers Market.
