Author Tony Paustian, provost of Des Moines Area Community College’s campus in West Des Moines, has won a silver medal from the Axiom Business Book Awards for his book “A Quarter Million Steps: Creativity, Imagination and Leading Transformative Change.” The book uses information about NASA’s Apollo moon missions, astronaut interviews, and Paustian’s experiences to teach life lessons. The book topped hundreds of entries and tied with New York Times best-selling authors Chip and Dan Heath, whose entry was “The Power of Moments: Why Certain Experiences Have Extraordinary Impact.” Paustian’s “A Quarter Million Steps,” last year won a Book Excellence Award for best management book from a Canada-based organization that also considered hundreds of entries.
