Greater Des Moines Supportive Housing, a nonprofit group that provides housing and services to people facing housing barriers, had proposed developing the project at 922 and 1000 N. Pleasant Hill Blvd. The 101-unit building would have provided housing to extremely low-income adults. The request was denied because the board did not find that the request met the criteria necessary to issue a conditional use permit. A motion to deny the request passed on a 3-2 vote. A spokesperson said the nonprofit has withdrawn its request for a variance permit.
