Prairie Meadows awards $15 million in charitable grants

Prairie Meadows’ board of directors has approved $15 million in grants to 404 Iowa organizations.

Prairie Meadows’ Legacy Grant program awarded 26 grants totaling $7.2 million, including $100,000 awarded through the Prairie Meadows scholarship program. The Legacy Grant program provides funding for large-scale, signature projects in Central Iowa. Recipients this year include Eyerly-Ball Community Mental Health Services, the Living History Farms Foundation, the Science Center of Iowa and Des Moines Area Community College, which received a $100,000 grant toward the completion of its new Transportation Institute.

The Community Betterment Grants program awarded 336 grants totaling $6.9 million to fund small-to-medium sized projects.

The Youth Sports and Recreational Grant program benefits qualified youth sports organizations in Iowa. The program awarded 42 grants totaling $882,618.

Prairie Meadows and the Polk County Board of Supervisors will co-host a joint Community Impact Luncheon on Sept. 16. The event will recognize the partnership between Prairie Meadows and Polk County that dates back to 1989 and celebrate the organizations that received grant funding from Polk County and Prairie Meadows.
