The cost to make temporary repairs to levees affected by spring flooding along the Missouri River continues to rise, reports Radio Iowa. John Leighow, chief of readiness and contingency operations with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Northwestern District, said recent dry weather has allowed their teams access to more levees for assessment, but added that the amount of money being spent to temporarily fix damaged levees is growing. To date, nine of 51 damaged levees in the Omaha District have been temporarily repaired.
