Eventive Sports of Birmingham, Ala., and the Principal Charity Classic announced that Alex McCarty was promoted to tournament director, and former tournament director Steve Nieman will become the executive director for the tournament. McCarty joined the Principal Charity Classic team as an intern in 2014 and has since managed two BMW Championships on the PGA Tour and a U.S. Senior Open. He most recently served as the sales director for the Principal Charity Classic. Nieman served as the tournament director for the past two years. In his new role, he will manage the PGA Tour Champions relationship and help shape the strategic vision with the board of directors for the Principal Charity Classic. He will also continue to serve as the assistant vice president of the golf division for Eventive Sports. The 2024 Principal Charity Classic will take place May 29 to June 2 at the Wakonda Club.
