Principal Charity Classic gift provides cardiac-imaging machine for Mercy Children’s

124 wordsAll Latest News, Arts and Culture, Health and WellnessMercyOne Des Moines announced that a state-of-the-art echocardiography machine has arrived in the Pediatric Cardiac Care Suite at MercyOne Children’s Hospital. The device, which cost $217,000, was made possible by a $95,000 gift from the 2018 Principal Charity Classic to MercyOne Des Moines Foundation. The innovative device is used multiple times for each pediatric cardiac care patient and provides highly detailed 3D color imaging of the heart. The Pediatric Cardiovascular Surgical Team will use the machine more than 500 times annually. “We are grateful for this gift from Principal Charity Classic, which improves our ability to accomplish what we do best – saving and improving the lives of children,” said Dr. Thomas Becker, MercyOne Children’s Hospital cardiologist and MercyOne Des Moines Foundation board member.
