The Principal Charity Classic announced Thursday its 2024 tournament raised a record $8.6 million supporting Iowa youth organizations and initiatives. Since Principal Financial Group became the title sponsor in 2007, the tournament has raised $62 million, according to a news release. Tournament proceeds support Blank Children’s Hospital, MercyOne Children’s Hospital, Variety — the Children’s Charity Iowa, United Way of Central Iowa, more than 80 Birdies for Charity nonprofits and the Legacy Project: Career Ready Collective. The 2024 event had more than 50,000 attendees and 1,100 volunteers.
