ChildServe recently announced the recipients of its annual ChildServe Champions award, which recognizes ChildServe’s most devoted supporters for advancing its mission through generosity, service and inspiring others to action. This year’s recipients are Principal Financial Group Inc. in the organization category, and Margo and Don Blumenthal in the individual category. “We are inspired and humbled by the generosity of both Principal and Margo and Don Blumenthal over the past three decades,” said Teri Wahlig, ChildServe’s CEO. “ChildServe would not be where we are today without the ongoing support of organizations like Principal and individuals like Margo and Don. Together, we are able to help provide the services children with special health care needs and their families in Iowa need to live a great life.” Des Moines-based Principal is one of ChildServe’s top 10 cumulative donors, having provided more than $1 million in cumulative gifts since 1989. In ChildServe’s recently completed Forward Together campaign, Principal provided a $500,000 lead gift, which will support a new pediatric rehabilitation unit. Among the Blumenthals’ contributions, they played an instrumental role in launching ChildServe’s Respite program, which serves more than 600 children across Iowa. The Des Moines couple was an integral part of ChildServe’s recent $10 million Forward Together campaign, by providing a major gift.
