The Principal Financial Group Veterans Employee Resource Group received a Governor’s Volunteer Award from Gov. Kim Reynolds and Lt. Gov. Adam Gregg during a recognition ceremony June 25 in Ankeny. The group was nominated by the Iowa Veterans Home for decades-long work coordinating flag placement at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery for Memorial Day and Veterans Day every year. In recent years the group has also worked to clean gravestones. The award program is coordinated by Volunteer Iowa. “Principal has a long-standing tradition of supporting those who serve for us in uniform,” said Jon Couture, executive vice president and chief human resources officer, in a prepared statement. “We are proud of our dedicated employees with their long-standing acts of service at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery.”
