Background and update: Anything for Dogs LLC, managed by Kyle and Megan Casey, has purchased 7.2 acres at 6128 Willowmere Drive where it plans to develop a unique Des Moines-area business model that combines a bar for humans with animal services such as an indoor/outdoor dog park, a veterinary clinic, and grooming and boarding services.

The property was purchased on contract for $1.3 million, according to Polk County real estate records. Anything for Dogs made a down payment of $260,000 and will make quarterly payments, according to the county records. A balloon payment of $992,506 will be due in December 2022, records show.

The couple had originally planned to open Paws & Pints in 2020 but the pandemic slowed those plans. Next steps include obtaining some financing through the U.S. Small Business Administration, finalizing business partnerships and finishing the project’s designs.

“It will be a jam-packed winter,” Kyle Casey wrote in an email.

A two-story, 29,800-square-foot facility is proposed on the site that had been owned by Cornerstone Family Church. The project’s site plan was approved by Des Moines’ Plan and Zoning in the fall.

Kyle and Megan Casey of Norwalk have been planning the development for more than two years.
