The Des Moines City Council will hold a public hearing at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 4 to review and receive comments about the 2024 Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development requires recipients of federal funds to identify existing fair housing issues. In 2023, the cities of Des Moines and West Des Moines, Polk County, and the Des Moines Municipal Housing Agency agreed to collaborate and create a regional Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing. The study area includes Dallas, Guthrie, Jasper, Madison, Polk, and Warren counties. People who wish to comment on the analysis may do so either at the public hearing, which will be held in the council chambers at 400 Robert D. Ray Drive, or may submit written comments, which are due at City Hall by Oct. 27. For more information, or to read the analysis, click here.
