REG Q1 falls short of expectations

Renewable Energy Group Inc. reported a first-quarter loss of $43.4 million, the Associated Press reported. The company reported a profit last year in the same period. In this year’s quarter, losses adjusted to account for discontinued operations were $1.11 per share. The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. Zacks Investment Research surveyed three analysts whose average prediction was a loss of 70 cents per share. The biodiesel producer posted revenue of $478.2 million in the period, also below forecasts. Analysts expected $480.8 million.
