Retail sales expected to post largest gain in a decade
Economists polled by MarketWatch expect a 1.4 percent gain in retail sales for February, which would put the year-on-year total up 9.3 percent, the fastest rate of growth since March 2000, when retail sales grew 9.9 percent. The U.S. Commerce Department is scheduled to release the data on Friday. MarketWatch cited one-year growth in automobile sales of 27.5 percent as of February.
