Sammons Financial Group donates $60K to help fight food insecurity in Central Iowa

124 wordsAll Latest News, Banking and Finance, Nonprofits and PhilanthropySammons Financial Group, an insurance holding company in West Des Moines, announced that it donated $60,000 across six nonprofits addressing food insecurity: Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC) Food Pantry Network, Food Bank of Iowa, Carlisle Community School District Food Pantry, Meals on Wheels, Supply Hive and Urbandale Food Pantry. “As an employee-owned company, we invest in programs important to our team members. One of our primary funding initiatives this past year has been to local food pantries,” Marcy Baker, chair of Sammons Financial Group’s Community Involvement Committee, said in a prepared statement. “As our employee volunteers seek to care for those in need, we know one of the key pain points in Central Iowa is ensuring people have access to food.”
