I view my role as a journalist as one that should serve and better a community with informative, quality reporting. When I joined the Business Record, I saw that their newsroom would be a place I could do just that.

I first worked with the Business Record as a News Intern during my senior year at Drake University. After graduating with my bachelor’s degree in News in May 2021, I came back part-time in July, and I’m excited about the opportunity to continue my work on the technology and innovation beat. I will also help with some digital projects going forward.

I grew up in Urbandale, Iowa and graduated from Urbandale High School. I received my associate’s degree from DMACC, where I officially caught the journalism bug serving as a writer and then editor-in-chief of the student newspaper, The Campus Chronicle. I transferred to Drake for my last two years of college, and worked as a writer and breaking news manager for The Times-Delphic.

In my spare time, I enjoy being outside in nearly any fashion. I love exploring the state of Iowa, but I also plan to visit all of our national parks. I also enjoy crocheting, cooking, reading, and time with my family and friends.
