SBA backs more than $6.5M in Central Iowa loans in August

The U.S. Small Business Administration backed 13 loans to Central Iowa businesses totaling $6,529,200 in August.

The loans will help those small businesses create 69 new jobs and retain 132 local jobs, according to data released by the SBA and compiled for Central Iowa companies by the Business Record.

The largest loans by dollar amount in Central Iowa included:

  • Innovative Metal Products Inc., for a new machine shop business in Des Moines, $1,600,000.
  • R and J Weis Holding Co. 8 LLC, for an existing limited-service restaurant business in Waukee, $1,337,000.
  • 5 Borough Bagels LLC, for an existing limited-service restaurant business in Urbandale, $765,000.


Statewide in August, the SBA 7(a) and 504 programs capitalized 13 new and 14 existing businesses that report creating 144 new jobs and retaining 219 jobs as a result.
