Wednesday is Shop Iowa Day, an online, statewide shopping event to promote e-commerce at small businesses across the state.  According to a news release, the day is dedicated to promoting and offering incentives for shopping at small businesses on the Shop Iowa Platform, managed by Member Marketplace Inc., a small company with employees in Des Moines, Iowa City and Marion. Shop Iowa is an initiative launched by the Iowa Economic Development Authority in August 2020 with support of the Iowa Small Business Development Center. The Shop Iowa marketplace will offer discounts on products and other promotions for shoppers. “We recognize the importance of giving small businesses the visibility and support they need to succeed, which is why we created Shop Iowa,” Debi Durham, executive director of Iowa Economic Development Authority, said in the release.
