The pickleball entertainment venue Smash Park, which opened its first location in 2018 in West Des Moines, held its grand opening of a new location Wednesday in the Twin Cities. The new venue contains 50,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space and six premium pickleball courts. It also includes ax-throwing, duckpin bowling, an arcade, darts, cornhole, a private karaoke “Sing Suite,” an outdoor patio, rooftop bar and yard games. Smash Park CEO Monty Lockyear said in a press release that the company has been eager to enter the Twin Cities market after its analysis showed high local interest in pickleball and a shortage of quality courts. “Interest in pickleball just keeps growing – it’s a social sport that is accessible to people of all abilities,” he said in a prepared statement. “The Twin Cities is a perfect home for Smash Park, and we’re thrilled the time has come to introduce residents to our full range of fun and unique offerings.”
