The construction is part of the Bridges to Opportunity: Des Moines’ Community Connection project, funded in part by an $8 million federal Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grant. Additional bridge construction as part of that project includes the Locust Street bridge replacement, anticipated to be completed in summer of 2020; the Court Avenue bridge rehabilitation, which should be finished in June; and the Scott Avenue bridge rehabilitation, which is planned to begin next spring and is expected to be completed in the summer of 2021.
