Women who own businesses “may be the country’s greatest untapped economic resource,” writes Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H., but they struggle with a shortage of role models, the gender pay gap and uneven access to financing. Congress should take action to end pay discrimination and improve workplace protections, she continued, and the private sector should work to eliminate gender bias in hiring and develop zero tolerance for harassment.
