SPEAK UP: Women are the key to economic growth

By all objective measures, the U.S. economy is growing steadily; however, S&P Global Economics recently lowered its estimate for long-term GDP growth to just 1.8 percent (annualized), down almost 1 percentage point from its 2.75 percent estimate 15 years ago. As we think about ways to reverse this trend, writes Jason Gold, we must look for sustainable and responsible growth. The good news is there’s an area of enormous opportunity, one that could add 5 to 10 percent to GDP in a few decades: women in the workforce.
