144 wordsAll Latest News, Energy, Government Policy and LawVoters in Waukee will decide Tuesday whether the city should continue to operate a gas utility. In recent years, city officials have heard complaints from residents about high gas bills, especially in comparison with neighboring communities, according to a news release. The Waukee City Council will have the authority to sell the gas utility if more than 50% of voters approve the referendum. The council, at a meeting in early February, approved accepting an offer from MidAmerican Energy Co. to buy the utility if the referendum is approved by voters. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Waukee Lutheran Church of Hope (305 N.E. Dartmoor Drive), Westview Church (1155 S.E. Boone Drive) and Waukee United Methodist Church (2075 S.E. LA Grant Parkway). Registered voters can go to any of the three polling locations regardless of their normal voting precinct.
