Speedway fund raiser lets donors drive on track
The Iowa Speedway in Newton is combining with Combat Hunger for a fund-raising effort on Saturday.
With a minimum $10 donation, anyone age 18 or older can drive their vehicle around the 7/8-mile racetrack from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday.
The “Drive the Track” event is part of the 20th anniversary of Combat Hunger, a food-drive effort among 190 Iowa businesses and schools.
“Since we know how exciting it would be for the average person to drive his or her car on our racetrack, we believe this fund raiser will generate a lot of dollars for Combat Hunger,” said Laura Manatt, the speedway’s director of marketing.
