Applications are now being accepted for the state’s Future Ready Iowa Summer Youth Internship Project grants, which help students explore high-demand jobs while gaining work experience. According to a news release, $250,000 is available for programs this summer. The deadline to submit an application is March 2. Priority will be given to programs that provide internships to high school students who are at risk of not graduating, are from low-income households, are from underrepresented communities, or those who face barriers to success in the labor market. Grants may be used for services and resources to support costs of participants, such as internship wages, training, transportation, clothing, staff time and other indirect costs. Last year, more than 550 students participated in 26 summer internship programs.
