Gov. Terry Branstad today announced a continuation of the state’s partnership with Des Moines-based Internet-payment company Dwolla Inc. Iowa Department of Transportation customers can now use Dwolla when filing and paying International Fuel Tax Agreement returns and International Registration Plan fees. Dwolla will be the only online payment option for the nearly 55,000 annual transactions, the governor’s office said. The state last year partnered with Dwolla to allow retailers to pay cigarette stamp taxes through the Iowa Department of Revenue, and in July 11 Iowa counties began accepting Dwolla for individual vehicle registration and property taxes.
