State family planning program excluding Planned Parenthood has nearly 75% drop in use
A state-run family planning program that excludes Planned Parenthood from accessing funds has had a nearly 75% drop in the number of people using its services since 2017, the Des Moines Register reports. The 11-page agency report by the Iowa Department of Human Services reviewed the number of people using services since 2014, when Planned Parenthood was able to seek reimbursement as a service provider under a federally funded program. The state-run program was launched in July 2017.
