Stephen Larson, administrator of the Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division, and Debi Durham, director of the Iowa Economic Development Authority, will lead a working group that will review state liquor laws, according to a release. Their mission is to recommend changes that address cottage industries of winemaking, brewing and distilling. Larson said in the release that basic elements of existing law, such as the three-tier system that separates manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers, “must remain.” The working group will begin its work in September with the goal of providing recommendations to the governor’s office by January 2017.
